Art on Thursday
by Susan Lamb - December 2017
It's Thursday again, I'm all set for Art
Armed with full bags, we all look the part.
Much more to out painting than meets loaded brush,
There's so much to learn, too important to rush.
How to use colour and tones good and rich,
It's okay in theory, there's never a glitch.
I need to take care with my ultramarine
So these trees recede in the faraway scene.
It's such a hard thing as we're coming to know,
Capturing light and making it glow.
There's always a chance I might sometimes win
And paint a fair picture that stays out of my bin.
But Art is just part of my Thursday morning,
It's friendship in here that makes it heart-warming.
Chance to catch up, drink tea, have a break,
Discussion, critique of the works we create.
Where's my sap green? I must buy some more-
And while I'm online I'll have an explore.
Oh! the paper, of course, the rough, smooth and NOT,
And there's the raw umber I nearly forgot.
Too hard to remove those things from my cart
Besides, they're all needed for my Thursday Art.
